Eliud Luutsa: Turning Loneliness into a Movement for Kenya’s Entrepreneurs

Published on December 11, 2025

The first time Eliud Luutsa walked into a Ye! Community event in Nairobi, he felt something he hadn’t experienced in years as a young entrepreneur: belonging. "I was building Innovative Procurement, a platform to help marginalized businesses access contracts, while all my university friends were taking corporate jobs," he recalls. "At Ye!, I suddenly found my tribe."

This moment of connection would spark a remarkable journey – from isolated founder to national leader of Ye! Kenya Chapter, transforming the country’s entrepreneurial landscape one relationship at a time.

The Breaking Point

Eliud’s early entrepreneurial days were marked by what he calls "the loneliness crisis." "You’re constantly second-guessing yourself when no one around you understands your struggles," he explains. His breakthrough came when a friend introduced him to Ye!’s community of like-minded founders. "For the first time, I could share my procurement idea without having to explain why I wasn’t pursuing a ‘real job’."

From Member to Movement Builder

What began as personal salvation became a mission when Eliud stepped into the Ye! Advisor role. "I realized Kenya’s young entrepreneurs didn’t just need skills – they needed an ecosystem," he says. Under his leadership, Ye! Kenya launched:

  • Monthly "Pitch & Connect" meetups where innovations like Ellie’s assistive technology for the deaf community found their first investors

  • Radical "Failure Workshops" that reframed setbacks as stepping stones (one founder’s "failed" agri-tech prototype became a bestseller after peer feedback)

  • The "IP Roadshow" after Eliud’s eye-opening trip to Côte d’Ivoire, where young founders learned to protect their ideas

The Ye! Difference

Eliud’s approach stands out because it’s forged in the fires of personal experience. "Other programs parachute in solutions," he notes. "We start by listening." His team’s needs assessments revealed critical gaps:

  • Only 1% of government contracts reached women-owned businesses (inspiring his procurement bootcamps)

  • Young founders were reinventing wheels instead of collaborating (leading to matchmaking algorithms in his own AI platform)

Ripple Effects

The impact manifests in both numbers and human stories. There’s Vincent, who turned desert cactus into sustainable fashion and nutrient-rich juice. Or Ellie, whose sign-language tech gained national recognition. "These aren’t just success stories," Eliud reflects. "They’re proof that when young innovators connect, they transform entire industries."

A Call to Community

Now a sought-after ecosystem builder, Eliud’s message is simple: "Entrepreneurship is a team sport." His advice to the next generation? "Start where you are. Gather five friends to share business challenges today – that’s how movements begin."

As for his Ye! Community slogan? "Alone, you’re a drop. Together we’re the tide."

Why This Matters

Eliud’s story embodies Ye!’s core belief: that youth entrepreneurship thrives not in isolation, but in community. From lonely founder to national chapter leader, his journey proves that the most powerful business tool might just be the person sitting next to you.
